You have a Resume of Resilience! You may not consciously think about it, but you are an expert at overcoming trials. Though roadblocks may come in different forms, they are indeed still roadblocks at their core. Lack of money, writing a tough paper, an overwhelming workload, or relationship struggles—but at their core, they all test your ability to push forward. One thing remains true, through 3 problem solving qualities: Hard Work, Strategic intentionality, and Diligence, you can overcome any roadblock. When you look back through your past you’ll see that you’ve probably demonstrated these qualities throughout various situations in your life, even if the roadblock was minor or subconscious.
When I got to college I would get assigned things like 5 page papers or end of semester powerpoints. I had never effectively written a quality paper in my life. This was pretty intimidating at first. But then I thought back on my life. Although I had never written a paper, I had somehow overcome growing up in an abusive household. I had navigated growing up in poverty to somehow buying a car. I somehow managed to get into a private university after having 16 D’s and 16 F’s in high school. I realized that while I had never faced this particular challenge, I had already overcome far greater ones. I took my experiences and harnessed the same effort and energy it took to get through those things and suddenly it wasn’t so hard to write the papers. I created a résumé of tough experiences, The Resilience Résumé . That’s when I created my Resilience Résumé—a record of the challenges I had already conquered. Now, every time I face an obstacle, I open my résumé and remind myself: I’ve overcome before, and I will again!
Open your Resilience Résumé. You already have everything you need to succeed.
